Dear Oakdale families,

On behalf of the entire staff, we welcome you back to the 2022-2023 school year!

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 23 years. This year will be my ninth year at Oakdale Elementary School. My degrees include a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education & Elementary Education from the University of Evansville. I also received my Masters in Administration from Oakland City University.

I am honored to work with the very best staff, parents and students. Our dedicated staff works very hard to ensure that all of our students have an opportunity to succeed in the classroom. Our staff strives to develop meaningful learning activities that promote a positive and active learning environment. We believe that all students can learn. 

Our goal at Oakdale Elementary School is to instill within our community love, respect, compassion, and empathy for ALL to become healthy, happy, and successful members of society. Our students will reach their full potential through a nurturing environment that encourages relationships, rigorous learning, and individuality.

Nick Kerner

Assistant Principal


Hello Oakdale families! My name is Nick Kerner and I am honored to be the Assistant Principal at Oakdale Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year!

This will be my eleventh year in education and fourth year as an Assistant Principal. I began my career teaching 6th-8th Grade Special Education Mathematics for five years at Thompkins Middle School. I then spent two years teaching honors and regular education Mathematics at Plaza Park. I have spent the past three years as an Assistant Principal. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Indiana in Special Education. I received my Master’s degree in School Administration from Indiana State University in 2017.

My family consists of my wife(Leslie), my stepdaughter(Olivia), and my son(Hayden). 

I am blessed to be joining an amazing team at Oakdale, as well as Oakdale’s strong and supportive community. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me via email below:
